The kenya i want

Its that time of the the year again when the electorate is entangled in the politics of tomorrow. Its also the time when they become myopic, the task of choosing the" leaders" of tomorrow has never been an easy task especially for kenyans .Tribalism always takes the day during such occasions its always about my people and our people.. thats kenya for you gentlemen and ladies.
Its regretable but we have to live with it coz tribalism is here to stay ,all we have to do is learn how to live with it.Allow me to share with you a story about my recent visit to the country of Madiba.I remember it like it was yesterday..oh sure its only two days ago..Well  well it was on a friday afternoon after completing our last meeting with our client, my boss then came up with the  idea of  shopping and we took a taxi ride to the nearest mall that goes by the name Menlyn park, its one of the biggest malls i have ever seen in my life. While there i managed to bump into some lady who was speaking swahili over the phone.I personally felt some joy in my heart that i really cant explain,My friend James on noticing the lady also decided to addressme in swahili and immediately the lady dropped the call  and greeted us saying "Habari zenu" well niceties  and hearty exchanges followed after we realized she was  kenyan.I want to assure you that nether of us asked what tribe we belonged to ,at that point in time we were all kenyans and thats what mattered.Till now i have never known what tribe the lady was  all i know is she was a kenyan
This really changed  my all perspective about everything.I remember at one time in some restaurant the waiter asked us what country we were from and we told him kenya and i proceeded and asked him what he knew about kenya, surprisingly he mentioned mau mau, dedan kimathi and we were all smiles then the sad part came when he said civil war which he meant (PEV) we found ourselves trying to explain to him that it really happened but kenya is a good country.
There are more incidences i can point out but those two were enough for me to totally agree that limitations only exist if you let them..Once you decide to limit oneself to a tribe then tribalism is born ,,what if we decided to limit ourselves to kenya and  let kenyans be born?? have a thoughtful day.
